Wok Hei – Chinese & Malay Restaurant

On the Plaza Floor of Hartamas Shopping Centre is tucked this cozy little restaurant that serves food of Chinese and Malay cooking style. It wasn’t my first time there but it surely wasn’t going to be my last as the food there is great.

Wok Hei is a rather small restaurant, with cozily lit ambient. The wooden chairs and tables are well placed and well spaced, expanding even to the nearby area of the concourse.

Now today, our line-up for the table were kangkung belacan, sizzling tau foo, sweet and sour chicken, and butter-fried chicken – YES! No typo, 2 chicken dishes because I wanted it!

Ugly photos! Why!?!? Of course la, it’s spontaneous food-nalism with my Nokia N81 8GB. Introduce good food place to you also nice already la. Ok, now I continue my report.

The kangkung was never my favourite dish but the kangkung with belacan from Wok Hei tastes so good, I ended up gobbling more kangkung than usual.

While the kangkung satisfies thecrave for the more spicy elements, there’s the sizzling tau foo which is not only more aromatic than the usual sizzling tau foo served by many Chinese restaurants, it also tastes much better! I’m no expert cook but I’m sure that there are more ingredients added to their style of tau foo than what we usually have in Chinese restaurants.

The sweet and sour chicken was well done, it was served mildly crispy and adorned with many vegetable that adds to the presentation.

As to the butter-fried chicken, I can’t praise it as much as the rest of the dishes but I must say that while the chicken is average perhaps, the butter strands do feel more tasty compared to the usual butter-fried dishes. My taste buds tell me they’ve added ginger as part of the ingredient but I could be wrong. ๐Ÿ™‚

Another thing I like about this place is that the beverages, or at least the beverage that I usually order – Chinese tea – is refillable.

All in all, it was a worth while visit. The total damage comes to RM 50.05 only, that’s after the services tax. All dishes that we ordered were less than RM 10 each.

Going there during lunch time could result in quite a wait for you since the place is small and dining tables are limited. So you know what to do la! ๐Ÿ™‚ Oh by the way, the also serve seafood specialties.

  1. If About.me sold for so much, I wonder what is the upcoming for AskFor.meMore brandable, and memorable, in my belief. “Ask for me” sounds a bit better than “Google me” And not sure how you’d say “Look me up on About.me”
