One fine day, I was working with my immediate supervisor, as well as his boss. So, in our conversation, we talked about some short cut which we can use linking Ampang to Cheras, skipping the traffic jam in the evening. So, in the conversation, my boss’ boss mentioned about there’s this restaurant which serve very good Thai food & I was like,”Oh yeah! That’s the one I noticed too every time I passed by & wanted to try!..

So, that day of the discussion itself & of course, without much of hesitation, I came.

Yeah, here I present you – Nong & Jimmy Seafood BBQ.

The place is quite simple & without much of those fancy fancy decorations, only with a signboard – “PETS are not allowed“. Anyway, I don’t have a habit of bringing pets when I eat out. I mean, I don’t have pets anyway. Why would you want to bring your pet out by the way? Okay okay, its none of my business, but let’s get down to business.

As the name of the restaurant stated so, its a ‘Seafood-BBQ-Restaurant’, or was it ‘BBQ-Seafood-Restaurant’? Erm, I can’t remember but, here’s their BBQ pit, not for us to BBQ, but for their workers to do so, hence to serve us. I was recommended to try out a few of their trademark dishes, but even with the recommendations, I still do have the habit of asking,”Hey, what’s your trademark dishes here?” The waiter answered me,”Every dish is our trademark over here..” & I was in my heard,”Ler.. So sales talk..

Here’s the first dish I ordered – BBQ Cock-els (I don’t know the exact spelling, I can’t even find it on the Internet.. Sigh.. Anybody?). For me, I usually call this – ‘Seahum’. (I think it should be Hokkien, right?) Under normal circumstances, I don’t eat ‘Seahum’, even if its in my favourite ‘Char Kuey Tiaw’. Its still very much depending on my mood. I may either just tell the ‘Ah Soh’,”Auntie, don’t want Seahum ar..” or to pick the ‘Seahum’ aside when I’ve forgotten to inform ‘Ah Soh’ not to add ‘Seahum’. To me, its bloody, stinky & doesn’t taste good at all. But for the sake of buurps.com, I am willing to sacrifice this time.

This dish was served along with two different types of chilly sauces. The one of the right, is my favourite. Its the Thai type of Chilly sauce, which is sweet & sour, with some peanuts in it. The one of the left is more of like those Chicken Rice alike kind of Chilly sauce.

The Seahum tasted real good, I really have to praise their way of BBQing it. I mean, its tender, juicy & not bloody at all. I seriously expect it to be bloody you know? (The last time when I tried out the Melaka’s famous drain-side kerang, it was BLOODY!) As for the stinking part, it was covered but the Chilly I mentioned earlier, & the combination was really superb! You imagine, its the combination of ‘Sweet+Sour+Tender+Juicy+Crunchy’. Really awesome! My girl friend had about 3 – 5 of them & the rest, needless to say, I wallop them all. My girl friend even commented,”You keep eating as though you are in your own world & suddenly you talk, I am like gosh, you are back!

Well, apart from the Seahum, here’s what I ordered as well. You could never missed that, I mean, this is a ‘Must-order-dish’ when you are in a Thai restaurant. To me, the Tom Yam tasted alright. It does not fall beyond my expectations & of course, I’ve tasted better Tom Yam elsewhere. I am not going to elaborate much about Tom Yam as it couldn’t taste any more special than ‘Sweet+Sour+Spicy+Aromatic’. For those Tam Yam lovers, you should try this.

This is something I thought I’ve seen before. You know, those ‘Horse-Leg’ which was sold in any ‘Yu-Char-Kuey’ stalls. This was also recommended & Nong & Jimmy don’t immediate fry it the moment they start their business. They started to fry it somewhere after 7pm. I ordered one plate of this, I wish I could eat more but almost ”Single-handedly” finished the Seahum was a milestone okay!

It was served with this special home made Kaya. When I saw the lady serving with such a small plate, I requested for another plate of Kaya & she went,”Tambah Lima Puluh Sen!” So, I’ve decided to cancel instead, you know, with the petrol hype & the subsequent domino effects, I better spend wisely.

This ‘Horse-leg-alike’ food (I was too engrossed with the food there, forgotten to ask him the name of it, sorry), was really tasty, its definitely different from the usual Horse-leg you can find else where. It has this certain kind of aroma, with the different kind of crisp, plus the special home made Kaya. I mean, the combination was really unique & its yummy! If you have trouble wondering how to order, trust me, you won’t. Its just next to the BBQ pit, you will never missed it.
