China Town Seng Kee

I am always in the look out for eating places which exist for more than 10, 20 years (Or even more). You know, the kind of place where it started by their great grandfather, past down from one generation to another generation, till the current generation. I am also very impressed by those whom really put in their whole heart, to come up with good recipes & maintaining it, even to improve it.

Sometimes, instead going to those super clean & comfy restaurants. You know, air conditioned & all. I prefer to go to those super old school restaurants (Which tables & chairs older than my age), preferable with Uncles or Aunties which yell at each others but ultimately, serve damn-power-good food!

So, today, I would like to introduce – China Town Seng Kee. I heard about this long ago & I actually came here many years back but forgotten totally on how the food tasted like. It was a in a conversation with my colleague whom reminded me about this place.

According to that uncle whom served me, this place has been around for 18 years, they started by the roadside till they rent this shop lot.

Their specialty here is the ‘Roasted Pork Mee’. The presentation is absolutely terrible, the Roasted Pork were all over, the vegetables were scattered as well. I arranged them properly so that it looks better in the picture.

Although the presentation was lousy, but the taste, I tell you, was superb! The texture of the mee was really tender, like having an enjoyable biting experience. The taste was just nice, not too salty, not too sweet. Gosh! I ran out of words to describe, or I think I don’t know the exact words to describe.

Apart from ‘Roasted Pork Mee’, they are also very good at ‘Claypot Loh Shh Fun’ (Exact translation will be Claypot Rat Noodle). This is personally, my favourite, the ingredients were very simple. You know, minced pork + noodles + pork lards & all. 1 claypot is just sufficient for two small bowls. You will definitely need to order the one with the bigger portion.

After mixing the egg, it looks like this. Oh gosh, I think I will be back there soon. So, bogieman & goldfries, wanna join me?
