Nasi Ayam Hai Nan Asal - Hainanese Chicken Rice

Hi, friends. I think this is my third time of introducing a Chicken Rice stall.

This time, its not Siew Yok (Roasted Pork) nor Char Siew (BBQ Pork), but the chicken itself.

Dear readers, sorry for the oddly long title. We couldn’t make up our mind on what to name this place, whether it was 龙门星店 or 王柯升, so I just decided to go with the Malay name as on the picture.

This place was being recommended by a Doctor (1 of my customer) from HUKM. He seems to know quite a fair bit of eating places but too bad, HUKM is no longer my account, therefore I won’t get to eat out with him anymore. (Maybe I will call him out as a friend sometime soon)

P/S : We chatted with the owner of the stall, apparently he doesn’t want to have more publicity & chose not to disclose much information. Oh yeah, according to him, he is a Hainanese. Somehow, I believe him. By observing him, I noted his protuding big eyes & squarish head & that’s what to be believed as the sign of Hainanese & not to forget, angin.

Yeah, indeed they are quite famous for their Chicken Rice over here.

As you can see from the picture, the meat is tender & juicy, with the chicken sauce that makes it slightly salty, which add contribute to high blood pressure more taste to the steam chicken. You know, one time I brought a colleague of mine there & after finishing her portion here, she ordered an additional chicken drum stick & finished off by herself. Amazing huh? That shows how much she likes the chicken.

Here’s the rice, somehow, there’s nothing to shout about the rice.

When comes to Chicken Rice, I guess its quite challenging. As in, how’s one going to differentiate him/herself from others? To me, its the chicken, as well as the rice & the chilly. I suppose there are many types of ingredients/herbs where one can play around with to steam the chicken. Till now, I have not eaten any rice (From Chicken Rice Stalls/restaurants) which I will show my thumb & say, “Very-the-good!” I look forward for one. If you know of any, kindly drop me a mail (Via Contact Us). Thanks in advance.

They gave me a small bowl of chilly, which is more than sufficient for both my girl friend & I. Their chilly is nice, sour+slight sweetened+spicy+onionish, that’s how it tasted like, goes very well with the chicken, as well as the cucumber.

My advice is, please go around 11 – 1130am, this was how it looked like when I arrived.

Not too long after that, it looked like this.

Here’s the location map.

They are open for business during lunch time, usually start around 11am.

Its located not too far from Yulek Garden, when you come from Yulek, take note of the sign board leading you to the temple, at the slope there, go all the way up till you see a shoplot on your right. Go up the another slope again & you will see the stall on your right. Happy buurping ya, cheers!

P/S : They do serve vegetables as well ie. Bean Sprout. When they cook, there’s no ventilation & get ready for your clothes to smell like onion, hehe..
