Restoran Sun Ming - Duck Rice, anyone?

Dear readers, I’ve eaten numerous Chicken Rice stalls/restaurants & I think its time for me to have some duck talk. So, today, I am introducing Restoran Sun Ming, a very famous Roasted Duck Rice restaurant located in Cheras.

Well, apart from roasted duck, they do have roasted chicken, pork, bbq pork, even Yong Tau Fu.

They’ve got quite a numbers of people working at the same time, one to chop meat, one to scoop rice, once to wait & ready to serve their customers, even one to pack for take-away customers. Basically, this is a very buzy restaurant with people walking at every corner of this place.

Apart from people walking everywhere, there are people standing as well.

As Sun Ming is so popular, people are willing to come all the way, to wait at anywhere in the restaurant for dining customers to finish their food & leave. This place is also very pack, until I feel somewhat uncomfortable. That’s mainly due to those “Standing-customers’-stares”. Because they will make sure that they’ll stand next to you, stare at you (Not everyone but quite a numbers are like that) to pressure you to finish your food quick, that they will get their seats the moment you leave. Its true, hungry men are angry men.

See, Sun Ming’s customers are really everywhere.

So, this is what they are coming for. As I was eating, I really think that its pretty ordinary & there’s nothing to shout about. If I didn’t remember wrongly, the one I tasted in PJ is better. Like what I always say,”Taste is very subjective..” Well, it has been quite awhile since I last visited the other famous Roasted Duck Rice in PJ. (I believe many of you heard before – Sun Rise) I will visit there soon, so that I could make a comparison.

I also ordered a plate of bean sprout & it tasted good.

The overall experience was okay. The duck was okay & the bean sprout was okay. Honestly, I don’t quite like squeezing with people or being stared by people while I am enjoying my food, perhaps when I visit the Sun Ming again, it will have to be somewhere before 11:30am.

Dear buurpers, I still think its a place worth trying as apart from me, there are many people whom acknowledges Sun Ming. The crowd speaks louder than what I’ve written. Feel free to be there & do share with me on your experiences as well. Cheers & happy buurping!

The ducks are good, but not extraordinary. But the food that I find irresistible is the BBQ pork (Char Siew) there. I brought my friends to eat there and all of them agreed that the Char Siew was the best. But all (including myself) complained about the price and the pathetic portion that they serve. Perhaps you can give the Char Siew a try, ask for half fat/lean meat (not sure what’s the term in English). And yeah, do go early, the place is extremely crowded at noon :)
