Strange it seems, to have a fashion and style event on buurps.com when all we actually talk about so far are FOOD FOOD FOOD.
Style Rocks was presented by MIGF 2008 and The Melium Group, Malaysia’s leading retail group of international luxury fashion and lifestyle brands. The event aims to highlight that fine dining and high fashion are a natural mix.
On behalf of the Buurps crew, I would like to thank the organizer AsiaReach Events Sdn Bhd for inviting us to Style Rocks!
Style Rocks was held at Euphoria (by Ministry of Sound) at Sunway Lagoon Resort with over 1000 guests.
Speaking of luck, lexiegirl and I arrived just the same time as our heroes in The Amazing Race Asia – Ida Nerina and Tania Khan.
Without haste, we made our way past the lounge ……
…… right to the center of where the action is set to happen. The dress code that night was “ROCKING GLAMOROUS”, certainly not something I do best but I guess I looked alright. Sorry! No photos of us for the night for you cheeky readers. 😀
Shortly after our arrival, we were greeted by our lovely hosts ……
…… who ushered the presence of Dato’ Steve Day with his energetic welcome note and also ……
…… Dato’ Farah Khan, the President of The Melium Group, with a few words before the initiation of the event.
There I was, right at the end of the run way, little did I realize that the person right in front of me was our Malaysian culinary expert – Chef Wan!
What went on the runway was simply exciting! With high-profile individuals and models, strutting their stuff down the path along the energetic crowd! The Melium Group was showcasing 80 different outfits from its stable of 50 international ready-to-wear and accessory brands.
After the Fashion Show, it was disco dancing all the way. The four world-class DJs that rocked the runway also swept the disco session of its feet with music styles ranging from house, electro, techno, trance, R&B, hip hop and more!
This night wasn’t about food per se but more about fine beverages – 5 individual themed bars were set up to offer Pernod Ricard’s premium champers including Absolut Vodka, Jacob’s Creek wines, Jameson Irish whisky, Chivas Regal and Martell. Then of course, there’s Carlsberg beer being served as well.
From my point of view, Both the people from MIGF 2008 and The Melium Group held a successful event to showcase the fusion of food of the soul : music, drink, dance and fashion!
