The buurps.com crew is back again with more MIGF matters – this time around, it’s the Gala Launch of the Malaysia International Gourmet Festival 2009, marking a month long festival that emphasizes the experience of fine-dining!
This year’s gala launch was held at Royal Chulan Hotel, quite a nice choice actually – this is a new hotel situated in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Last year’s gala launch venue was at Marriot, Putrajaya.
The Malaysia International Gourmet Festival (MIGF) is a firmly established, internationally recognized event which confirms Malaysia’s status as the top gastronomic nation in region. Anyway, I shall not bore any of you with my walls of text. Let’s jump into the event straight-away! Firstly, my usual PANORAMIC view of the venue – we get a preview of the place before the event starts.
Besides the food, which is the main focus of the evening, there were also pole dancers…..
…… awesome singers and bands as well.
Here we have Dato’ Steve, together with the Mayor and Dr. Junaida, exiting the room and made way to the stage to welcome the gastronomically roaring crowd.
Dato’ Steve, with his usual flair, presented the opening speech for the event.
After that, the trio made their was to the official entrance, officiating the event by cutting through the make-shift door that leads to the “hall of delicious treasures”!
Just as the previous MIGF Gala Launch, the energy that came forth from inside the hall was beyond words, best I could describe it is that it’s an energy that could power the night and it did just that.
After that is a FREE-FOR-ALL session for food tasting. Of course, the MIGF Gala Launch is probably the only time I see the rich and powerful flock together picking food – it reminds me of a night market. 😀
Besides the food tasting from the visitors, it’s a great sight to see chefs going around exploring the food served by other chefs.
I bet many didn’t realize a press conference was going on in one of the rooms, Dato’ Steve was courteous to handle all queries regarding MIGF.
Here are more photos of what went around the venue and it really was awesome,
the energetic music and sporting people showing their moves on the dance floor.
Now where’s the food? 😀 It’s no BUURPS.COM article if it doesn’t showcase some food.
