Ahh? Nam Heong Chicken Rice? First article of the year and you get Nam Heong? Does Nam Heong really serve nice chicken rice? Yes they do, in fact we just feel like their awesome chicken rice is worth highlighting.
Before we proceed, I would like to make it clear that we’re talking about the outlet at Desa Sri Hartamas.

This is what what we usually order – obviously it’s chicken rice.

The above is my portion, roasted chicken drumstick.
Lovely, this is part of the entire set that comprises of the chicken, the rice and bowl of soup.

The best part of Nam Heong’s chicken rice dish is not the chicken but the rice itself. I hate it when chicken rice stalls serve chicken rice using plain white rice or badly done chicken rice that are practically sticky. The rice served is a fine example of what rice should be.
As for the chicken, they’re always well roasted with the meat still tender and having sufficient moist and taste to go along with it.
Personally, I wouldn’t order their roast pork “siu yoke” as I find it dry, not tasty and pricey. Just stick to chicken rice and you’re fine.
I’ve also tried other Nam Heong branches like the ones in SS2 PJ and in Taipan SJ and I think they’re not memorable like the on at Desa Sri Hartamas.
