Located at a rather hidden corner of Tropicana City Mall’s ground floor is this Asian restaurant that serves quite some good stuff – the signature dish is the Chef’s Special Sweet Sour Pork. What they didn’t tell you is that the Sweet Sour Pork is served with ICE!
Before that, allow us to show you a bit of the shop front for you to identify it.
As you can see, it’s parked right next to an apparel shop, which so happens to be under the Yume group of companies. Not surprising though, rent a unit and have 2 names together. Why not?
What strikes me is the deco in Yume Cuisine that is FRAME based.
With that, let’s move on to the dishes.
It’s written in Chinese, but don’t worry, we got it translated. Here’s what it looks like, which is actually what you saw on the poster.
It’s special because it’s served in ice. Does it taste special or memorable? No it isn’t, just imagine any other sweet & sour pork on the other spectrum of temperature. The dish is served on a glass bowl, and beneath the ice is a plate separating the content from the bottom of the bowl to cater the water from melted ice. Memorable? Perhaps, because it’s pork on ice.
Next dish is the Thai-style prawns with mayonnaise and chestnut, which I think is a best dish of the day.
The prawns were fresh and decently sized, the sauce was a spicy mix of spice and sauce. The Chinese name for this dish on receipt was 泰式千岛虾, it translates do Thai-style thousand island prawn, which I think is what the sauce actually is, not mayonnaise.
Lastly we had potato leaf. No comments. Just a vegetable dish to balance the meal.
I’m just surprised that the tea alone costs RM 12 (4 persons).
Total cost was RM 101.20, of which the dish accounted for the RM 92 while the RM 9.20 comes from the service charge.
I think it’s a worthwhile place to visit, despite the price being a little on the high side.
