Beef Bolognese Lasagna from Tricious

Not all frozen food are bad, some of them are good. Tricious’ range of lasagna are one of those that I think are good, especially for those easy late night snacks.

This lasagna is priced at RM 7.90 (Ben’s Independent Grocer) to RM 8.90 (Cold Storage) range.

In the package, is a pre setup lasagna in a plastic container.

All you need to do is to open the lid of the container a bit, and microwave it for 6 to 8 minutes. I tried 10 minutes and it didn’t turn out as well as the one I set for 8 minutes, still tasty but just not as good.

What I like about this lasagna is that (other than being simple to prepare) it comes with sufficient amount of cheesy goodness and it actually includes chunks of beef in it instead of just a bit of tomato paste.

Based on the official product page, the ingredients are …

Durum Wheat Semolina, Tomato, Beef, Tomato Paste, Cheese [Cheddar, Mozzarella (Contains Milk)], Butter (Contains Milk), Palm Oil, Onion, Wheat Flour, Soy Protein, Garlic, Modified Corn Starch, Salt, Milk Powder, Sugar, Basil, Cheese Flavour, Oregano and Spices.

Good stuff. Do give it a try. So far I’ve only noted the item to be available at Ben’s Independent Grocer, Cold Storage and Hero Market. I haven’t check out places like Mercato, Jaya Grocer and hypermarkets like Giant, Aeon and Tesco.

I’m a birth doula (so I help support moms and dads duinrg labor as a profession) and I absolutely love this! I’ve shown it to a couple of my clients and we have a good laugh but in reality, it kind of HAS acted as a real-life tool, to get dad to relax and to get the converstaion flowing about what the he expects and what the reality of birth is. I seriously need a poster of this up in my office. I still LOL everytime I see it. When my 2nd son was born, it was my husband’s first experience with birth (due to deployment, he met our first son when he was a month old). I tried pretty hard to help him know what to expect, and he did great until the placenta was born. Then he loudly said oh my god! and went to a good 8-9. I’m not sure what he was expecting, but he actually made me laugh out loud right then and there (not an easy task considering I had just given birth). To this day, he gets very animated with his side of the story. I never expected it to be that BIG and gross, I thought she was birthing an alien twin! haha, poor guy. Well at least he knows for next time.
