Celebrating Being Malaysians #9 – Ais Krim Potong

Yet another Malaysian delight – we have fond memories of devouring these uniquely local ice cream, often part of the inventory of the ice cream man on motorbike.

Yup, that’s for us Malaysians. We don’t get those ice-cream trucks seen on American TV show.

In the picture below, we present to you 3 flavors of Ais Krim Potong. coincidentally, they match the pastel colors commonly seen on ladies socks as well. 😛

aiskrim

*potong means cut, or sliced. Ais Krim is Ice Cream in Malay, which quite resembles LOLcat spelling. Not explaining LOLcat here.*

From left to right, they are …..

Jack Fruit flavor – jack fruit, coconut milk, sugar, salt, starch, sweetened condense milk, milk powder, coloring

Red Bean flavor – red bean, coconut milk, sugar, salt, starch, sweetened condense milk, milk powder, coloring

Corn flavor – corn, coconut milk, sugar, salt, starch, sweetened condense milk, milk powder, coloring

So as you can see the contents are similar, just a change of blended fruit or vegetable. For all I know, you can probably make Ais Krim Potong of practically any flavor as long as it tastes nice………….. or not.

Do you have fond memories of Ais Krim Potong?
