Our dining session was at the Subang Jaya outlet of the Kelantan Delight franchise; it is located at Wisma Consplant, the building opposite Empire Gallery and Subang Parade.
The adventure started off simple appetizer of Sireh Daun Kadok, fried crispy shell on the outside, covering the betel leaf and special sauce.
Next on the menu was the Tom Yam Udang Kelapa Muda, basically tom yom served in coconut shell, with the prawns as the highlight of the dish.
Adding to the flair of flavors is the Nasi Kerabu Ayam Percik that does bring back memories of my regular meal in Kelantan. Blue rice, fish crackers and lovely roasted chicken in percik sauce.
Nasi Tumpang joined in the barrage of east coast delights, served with delicious fried chicken while the compacted rice is wrapped in leaf.
We also have flavors from the water – Ikan Siakap Daun Kadok, which essentially is fried Barramundi (name of the fish, in English) happens to be my favorite dish this session. Nicely fried and served with spicy gravy, this dish is just pure entertainment to the taste buds; that’s not to say the other dish don’t but I think it’s the best.
Lastly the dessert, Lompat Tikam. A common Malay dessert that’s uncommon to the city folks.
