Ipoh Chicken Rice @ Mid Valley

Chicken Rice? From Ipoh? I never had any chicken rice from Ipoh but that’s not stopping me from writing about my experience.

Ipoh Chicken Rice @ Mid Valley

This marks my second visit to the shop, my first visit was many years ago of which the shop was located some place else, they moved in once Mid Valley completed their renovation.

Roasted chicken & roasted pork rice bento (RM 13.80) was my dish of choice. The serving for the bean sprout was generous but sadly the same can’t be said for the chicken and pork. I think they have one of the tastiest roast pork in town, with the right amount of crisp, crunch and salt to the taste but as you can see in the photo, the cut is scanty at best. The chicken was alright but again, scanty it was. Let’s just say they could have a winner here but the portion and the price just spoils it.

Up next is the Crispy Fried Sotong with Garlic (RM 13.80) that was decent, nothing great but at least they don’t give you a ridiculously small amount of squid.

Out of sheer curiosity, I decided to give their Cantonese Style Ying Yong (RM 14.90) a go. I thought this would be a small plate of ying yong and I was hoping to score one with awesome taste with it but it turns out to be the other way around – the ying yong was HUGE but the taste was just around average.

As you can see, it was an average experience for not so average price per dish.

For half the price you can get very nice chicken rice in Kepong and Taman Ehsan or even in Uptown or Section 17 PJ.
