“Value Meals” at The Makan Place, Mid Valley Megamall

RM 7 for a huge plate of rice, 2 pieces of fried chicken, some eggs and vegetable, are you kidding me?

Yes, this is entirely possible at The Makan Place. I didn’t know this place existed until my friend from lowyat.net introduced it to me.

The Makan Place is situated at the basement floor of the complex, it’s along the underpass that joins Mid Valley Megamall and The Gardens, and the place is commonly known as “Helm’s Deep” (Based on J. R. R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth fantasy literature, you probably know what it is if you are familiar with Lord of the Rings) by the people who work at the upper class Midvalley area where a meal could be quite costly.

While there are no orcs nor Uruk-hais from Saruman to disrupt your dining pleasure, you’ll be surprised how crowded this place could be during lunch hours and still hold good crowd even after 3pm.

There are at least 3 food courts in the area and Helm’s Deep, I mean The Makan Place is the the stuffiest, most packed and in a sense “deepest” among them; Perhaps that’s where the place got its name from.

My usual stall is the one shown below called ABK corner that seems to be one of the popular ones as it’s value for money though I can’t say that the food is great. My observation tells me that every stall has a crowd, they just vary in degree.

This might not be the place for you if you’re picky on food quality and would prefer a place that’s less congest and has better ventilation. Most people would just visit the place to take-away to dine in the comfort of their office.

Have you tried this place? Do you have a favorite to recommend?
