Our random restaurant hop in Penang brought us to this cozy part of Queensbay Mall that’s located on the 2nd floor of Queensbay Mall, just near the escalators around the center court.
What!?!? Why you come Penang no go eat local food ah? That would be nice but we were short of time and this seems to be a good place to dine before heading back to KL.
What I like was the brown colored setting of the restaurant, coupled with warm lights to give it a very welcoming feel.
Even nicer was the other dining area that seems to provide more privacy.
Starting off our lunch – a beautifully designed set, the Taiwan-Style Sweet & Sour Pork (RM 16.90).
I must say that the Sweet & Sour pork was heavenly in taste but I do wish there’s more pork than vegetables. The bowl of white rice wasn’t spectacular but it was a good touch to have it topped with some sauce and minced meat.
The Taiwan-Style Sour & Spicy Chicken Chop (RM 14.90) was great too, deep fried piece of chicken meat yet not overwhelming in terms of flour. Needless to say, the chicken was still tender and juicy, along with the bulk of the sour and spicy taste being the residents of the crunchy outer layer.
The Taiwan-Style Seafood Fried Vermicelli (RM 16.90) seems to be the item on the more pricey side, considering there were only a few pieces of prawns while the bulk of the dish was the vermicelli. It tasted good though, seems to be stir-fried to perfection while the shrimps were of good size and they were fresh as well.
Lastly we have the Braised Chinese Spinash Sprout in Broth (RM 10.90), adding some greens as a final touch to a balanced meal. This dish is good too, with good amount of vegetable and broth.
If you’re from Penang or so happen to be at Penang’s QB Mall – the shop location is at 2F-50 & 2F 51.
