Located at an old shop lot in Dang Wangi area is this restaurant that’s famous for its Hainanese style pork chop.
We made our visit to Yut Kee on a Sunday afternoon and to our surprise the place was filled to the brim and with more patrons on queue.
We took our place at the queue, after having informed them that there’s just 2 of us. 5 minutes later we were ushered to our table of which we had to share with a few other patrons.
For our late lunch we ordered the pork chop (RM 10), the chicken chop (RM 8.50) and the lum mee (RM 7)
The pork chop and chicken chop were of similar make, the only difference being the choice of meat served.
Here’s the pork chop…..
And here is the chicken chop.
While the Yut Kee is famous for its pork chop as pork chops are such rarity in Malaysia, I find that the chicken chop is more tasty.
Even so, my opinion is that both the pork chop and chicken chop are overrated. That’s not to say that it’s not good because it is good, just that it’s not something to shout about. I for one would rather just head over to Tappers for a similar meal minus the queue and not having to make a journey all the way to Dang Wangi area.
Chops aside, the lum mee was alright but on the dry side. Not my favorite for the day but I am sure it is a favorite for many.
In any case, if you’re looking for Hainanese style chops then do give this place a try.
