The signature Toilet Bowl restaurant isn’t new, in fact they’ve been in Malaysia since 2008. I don’t know why haven’t we tried it all these years but hey, better late than never!
The one that buurps visit was the one down south in Johor Bahru City Square.
Ironically the facade of the restaurant does look like one of those naughty shops that sell sex toys but fortunately it isn’t. In fact, some may even mistaken it for a toilet.
Fortunately it’s so colorful that no one will ever mistaken it for a shop selling bathroom items. 😀
Yup, we sat on bowls!
There are so many bowls in this place, even bathroom specialists could take some design cues from them!
OK so maybe I’m giving them too much praise but I must admit that the place looks very comfortable and fun. As you can see from the photos above, it’s a great place for family and friends to meet.
We got our engines rolling with some Mushroom Soup (RM 5.90) – lovely, very tasty mushroom soup that makes much room for the food to come. I love the size and the spread on the garlic bread so much that I wish there’s more.
The first dish to arrive was the Cheese Baked Rice with Smoked Duck and I must say it’s the best Cheese Baked Rice I’ve had for ages, the amount of cheese and cream was so generous and so was the amount of sliced smoked duck. Thumbs up for this RM 16.90 dish. No, make that TWO THUMBS UP!
The next main course was the Gangnam Style Loa Mee Shua for RM 12.90.
The assortment of ingredients are to be mixed and boiled right before us and the bowl will be placed on the bowl, no pun intended. That’s how this place works – everything is served on a “bowl”. 🙂
The kitchen staff helped us with the mix. 😀
The food was good, not astounding enough to make us do the Gangnam Style and no explosions popping about but it’s a worthy recommendation for a food at that price.
Last but not least – the ice cream. 😀 It’s time for you to say “shit just got real!”
As a summary, this place is where you go to “toilet” to eat and it’s worth the visit.
Unfortunately their website isn’t updated, or at least not showing the menu we saw, neither does it list all the outlets. 🙁 Their link to the supposed Facebook page doesn’t work either.
After spending a bit of time searching for the outlets, it seems that some have reported that currently there’s only the Penang (original) and Johor Bahru outlet left even though the website mentioned outlets in KL, PJ and Malacca.
