“According to the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), more than 1.3 billion tons of food are wasted each year. And food waste does not only occur in industrialized countries. Roughly 65 percent of food loss in developing countries occurs during the production, post-harvest and processing stages due to financial and technical limitations.”
The U.N. Environment Programme (UNEP) launched Think.Eat.Save campaign of the FAO‘s Save Food initiative that collaborate with groups around the world to develop and coordinate projects to reduce the environmental problems that can result from food loss and food waste.
The campaign provides an international perspective on food waste and it has catapult far-and-wide – connecting worldwide food waste initiatives and targeting consumers, retailers, and the hospitality industry. Here’s an awareness video of the campaign.
Below talks about the effect of the campaign on others.
