Having my intended fast food lunch ruined by an unexpected crowd, I ended up checking out what’s available at Food Republic and I’m reminded of a place that I’ve always wanted to try.
I love Malay food, and Ibunda’s range of food does seem tempting.
The price of dishes are laid out clearly on the board that’s placed at the back.
And so I ordered the combo below……
White rice, a piece of chicken leg (requested them to chop it), 2 fried eggs, a whole lot of vegetable and some mildly spicy paru-paru (cow lungs) – damaging me RM 24.30.
The breakdown was as follows
– rice : RM 2.00
– vegetable : RM 3.50 (wth!?!?)
– paru paru : RM 6.90
– chicken : RM 8.90 (wahhhh!)
– fried eggs : RM 1.50 each
As you can see, the price is on the high side but it’s quite reasonable for the quality. I recommend heading to that place earlier when the food is warmer. I ordered my dish at around 1PM and it’s generally quite cold, not uncommon for any “mixed rice” place though.
I love the paru-paru, I wish they have the dry version. The eggs were fine and so were the vegetables. As for the chicken, I felt that it should be fried a little bit longer as there’s something lacking in the meat, it wasn’t raw but I felt that the meat was a little short of the optimum texture to be regarded as properly cooked.
The shop is at Lot 1.51 of Food Republic. You can’t miss it! Great place to visit IF you have the budget and you’re looking for delicious Malay food. For something that’s A LOT cheaper (but of much lesser quality), there’s always the food court at Mid Valley.
