Did you know that Jaya Grocer has a chain of restaurants? 😀 It’s called Fresco, Jaya Grocer’s introduction of the ‘grocerant’ which stands for both grocer and restaurant. Purchase your meats, poultry or seafood (with green stickers) from their supermarket and have their chefs at Fresco cook and prepare it!
The one at the Intermark left a lasting impression on me, I came with very low expectations but the dining experience turned out to be memorable.
The joint itself is laden with menu at practically every corner. There’s the wide chalkboard menu on one side, then there’s the main menu at the counter. Along the other side of the counter are set / promotion menus.
Some items they served are pre-prepared and all you have to do is pick the main dish and side dishes, drinks are available too.
The dining areas are generally well lit while the seating arrangements are reasonable comfortable despite the tables are of quite close proximity to one another.
I ordered Roasted Rack of Lamb for RM 38 – I set my expectations low and my hopes even lower but I was pleasantly surprised by how the dish turned out to be. The wobbly tower of meat with bones sticking out like some awkward architecture drew the attention of every other diner around, I felt like I was a super star for that short moment.
A layer of well-arranged sliced potatoes serve as the base of the meat tower, and surrounding the base are pesto sauce that tastes just as good as it looks.
The rack of lamb was superb – tender meat with fatty contents on the outer rim, a combination that made every bite an orgasmic gastronomic experience.
Suffice to say – we’re coming back for more some day! I look forward to try their pastas and pizzas. 😀
