I grew up in this small town of Kota Bharu, and Sun Hua has always been my favorite restaurant for chicken chop, and my favorite restaurant in town too!

It is a corner shop at a small lane called Jalan Ismail.

The place looked the same as it was 20 years ago when I was a regular, the shop still carries this old and rustic ambiance that’s only found in establishments that are from similar era.

The Chicken Chop with bread is their most popular dish, the bread does not come with the chicken chop so you’ll have to mention that when ordering. The Chicken chop and bread combo comes to only about RM 10, with the chicken chop being RM 8.50. Our meal for 2 that’s with 2 chicken chop, 2 bread and 2 canned drinks came to just slightly above RM 20.

What you get is a delicious chicken chop with thick brown gravy that’s unlike what you’ve tasted elsewhere. You’ve heard of Yut Kee in Kuala Lumpur right? In my opinion, Yut Kee is no where near when it comes to taste and quality, which I why I wasn’t overly impressed with my visit there but I digress.

Sun Hua’s chicken chop is astonishingly tasty and it’s as good now as it was 20 years ago. The crust is crispy yet very light, just a fine layer that’s enough to add to the taste but not distract you from the taste of the meal itself.

  1. This event is not one of my favorites to watch and Love Pebble and Spy but I can do without watching celebrities play golf moreover When I want to watch Tour golf and I want to watch Tour players but that’s another story for another time,,,,,.

  2. My perception is that this is all "gangsta" based. These people have bought into the gangasta lifestyle. They have also figured out that with coordination they can hit & run faster than the police. This lil lesson will not be lost on our "bangers" here in the States. I figure to see at least three copy cat events in the US this weekend. I do agree that the "movement" in the US will die on the suburban doorstep and I hope that death is literal.
