Making Eggs Without Chicken

Have you seen or heard of the concept – ‘making eggs without chicken’?

The concept is deemed as ‘all natural, nothing artificial’ and it turned out to be a startling discovery the masses could have imagined. Here is a story of using plant-based food to replace the function of eggs.

Hampton Creek Foods is a food technology company based in San Francisco that focuses on finding new ways of utilizing easy-to-grow plants in foods products. The CEO Joshua Tetrick who founded the company in December 2011 has revolutionized the food industry in America with the introduction of ‘Just Mayo’, a version of mayonnaise made without eggs in 2013.

His objective is clear,

We want to take animals out of the equation. The food industry is begging for innovation, especially where animals are involved – it is a broken industry. The idea was to find a mix of easy-to-grow plants that, when mixed together in the right way, replicate the taste, nutritional values and cooking properties of an egg.

He also believes that his products will offer substitutes to the mass market foods and allows the developing world’s to grow their own versions with added nutrients.
